How To Leverage PPV Traffic

PPV (pay per view) or CPV (Cost per view) traffic is a hot topic these days.  With more and more affiliates jumping ship from Google AdWords, they are turning to networks like Traffic Vance, Media Traffic, and many of the smaller PPV networks. Most affiliates (with any traffic source) are going to be running traffic straight to CPA offers via a landing page or direct link. As an affiliate, you can make great money with that strategy, but what are some of the other ways to leverage PPV traffic?

Build an Email List

PPV traffic is a great way to build an email list. You can collect emails for as little as $0.01 per opt-in and market to that list over and over. Instead of sending that customer off to your CPA offer for a flat commission anywhere from $1-$30, you can market multiple offers to that customer which could end up netting you hundreds of dollars in commission. Remember, once you collect the customers email address, it doesn’t cost you any more to mail them more offers. You can accomplish this by building a landing page with your opt-in form on it using a program like Aweber. Offer your customers something in exchange for their email address. For example, if you are promoting a weight loss offer you might offer then  a free report like “The Top 10 Mistakes To Avoid When Dieting” which they will get after they opt-in to your email list.

Pre-Populate

Why not send the traffic to an offer page with their info already filled out? All they have to do is click submit, and you get a commission. You can even pre-populate the offer and collect the email address to market to later. Sounds pretty good right? You will have to check with your affiliate network can see which offers can be pre-populated and the specific instructions on how to do that. Usually it just requires something to be added to the end of your affiliate link. If you want to also collect the email in your autoresponder like Aweber, you will need some additional code to send their email to your offer and Aweber.

Incentivize Offers

It can be hard to find incentive offers that work well but you can combine these with PPV traffic to really increase conversions.  You will have to follow the rules as far as what you are able to incentivize with but since the traffic on PPV networks is relatively cheap, it’s possible to get a lot of views to your page. To accomplish this find some offer that you think might do well and build a  landing page highlighting what the customer will get (the incentive) if they fill out your offer. If you are paying attention, you will realize this is another great opportunity to collect their email!

Promote Your Own Product

There is really nothing stopping affiliates from making their own product. You might think you need a lot of capital, resources, etc. but in reality your own product could be something simple like an ebook or an audio/video download. Take a subject you know like playing the guitar, gardening, or anything else and write a short guide about it. You will be surprised  when it actually sells!

PPV traffic is fairly cheap and there is a lot of it. The key to monetizing this traffic is to think outside the box. Everyone is sending traffic straight to offers, so what can you to do be different and compete with all the other affiliates? Don’t be afraid to try new strategies and ideas…you never know what will work until you try.

David Ford will be doing an 8 week live PPV webinar series with Corey Bornmann from Affportal taking students through these techniques and much more. To learn more visit http://www.ppv123.com and register for the free webinar.

Easily Search Affiliate Offers from Top Networks

Earlier in the year I came across a new site called OfferVault, which helped you compare cpa offers across a bunch of affiliate networks. Mark Roth, the owner of the site, recently contacted me and let me know about some of the changes and improvements to the site since then. If you saw the previous site design, you will notice a huge improvement right away. The old design didn’t have much of a color scheme, and I found it a bit confusing on where to signup or access the search area for current members. The new design puts all that confusion to rest and provides much more.

What’s new and what’s better?
The original concept for the site was mainly to provide a search database of affiliate offers across networks. Since I last checked out the site, Mark has doubled the size of the networks he lists in his database. The majority of names to choose from, are ones you probably already know Clickbooth, Market Leverage, and Rextopia. I feel the main attraction OfferVault, is there affiliate offer search, but new additions have been added to the site as well.

Live Member Search Tool and Keyword Function
Ever wonder what other people are searching on, or just need some inspiration to get in a niche? A cool feature of OfferVault is the “scrolling search feed” when you are at the “compare offers” page. It doesn’t tell you how others are pushing offer, just what they are searching, but it still may help you find that next niche you were looking for.

Once you come across an offer worth looking at, you can click on the “KW” option next to the offer and it will bring up a listing of relevant keywords. This usually takes around 30 seconds to pull a report together. It’s not just a few keywords, but it shows “keyword groups”, advertiser competition and search volume.

Full Offer Breakdown
Everything is in place on OfferVault for you to find the offer you are looking for. In the past, you could find the offer, but then it was a hassle to see the landing page and you would end up opening new windows, etc. With the platform, once you make a search and find an offer, click it and everything is there for you. A quick offer/network description, payouts and the landing page right on that same page. An excellent looking setup, and big improvement to their site.

The “NEW” OfferVault
As explained, all of the improvements are here to make this a really great resource site, and that’s exactly what it is. The goal of the site is to make it easy for you to find new affiliate offers, at competitive rates, and while offering a bit of resources and training along the web. Over the past few months, OfferVault has also added a weekly webinar series. Once you are a member, they are free to watch and cover everything from PPV traffic, Facebook Advertising and Google Adwords. Some of these videos go well over an hour, and are free to all members.

Here’s the part of the post where I’m supposed to throw out a kicker or trial offer. Fortunately that’s not necessary. OfferVault is FREE! There is no upsell and you gain instant access to their directory. After being a member, and if you decide to join a new network through their site, OfferVault may get a referral commission. With this structure in place, they can offer you a free member.

Please take a look at the New OfferVault and let me know what you think.

Affiliate Summit East NY Parties & Events

This guest post was written by Dina Riccobono of MarketLeverage. Like most of the affiliate marketing industry, Dina and MarketLeverage will be at Affiliate Summit East next Weekend. Dina took the time to write up a nice post on some of the networking events parties and events taking place at this year’s ASE. Feel free to follow up with any events we may have missed and they will be added to the post.

If you’re headed to New York for Affiliate Summit East, you’ve probably already heard some of the buzz about the great networking opportunities. There are so many events taking place, and it can be difficult to choose which ones to attend. I’ve listed my personal picks for first time attendees, and for ASE veterans looking to shake up their show experience.

- Affiliate Summit’s Ning Network (http://affiliatesummit.ning.com)

Amy from the Affiliate Summit team put together a great community on Ning for ASE (and ASW) attendees to do some pre-networking online. With over 2,300 show attendees from the East and West coasts registered to the group, Ning’s a great place to develop solid business connections with Affiliate Summit speakers, exhibitors, and attendees. Keynote Chris Brogan and presenter Jay Berkowitz are two of the event headliners who can currently be found on Affiliate Summit’s Ning network.

- AffiliateTip.com, MissyWard.com, the Affiliate Thing podcast, and The Spew

Shawn Collins and Missy Ward, Affiliate Summit’s co-founders, have a list of invitations a mile long. For the most up-to-date information about the show, affiliate happenings, and key networking opportunities, visit their blogs and podcasts.

- The Meet Market

If you plan on sleeping in during exhibit hours, then the Meet Market is your best option to meet affiliate networks and online merchants. This popular event takes place on Sunday, August 9th, from Noon to 6pm, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the NY lifestyle Saturday, sleep in, grab some coffee, and hit the hall after. There’s also a silent auction with valuable items up for grabs, including travel and retailer gift cards, with proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC. The Meet Market is usually packed, so you’re likely to run into some familiar faces.

- The MarketLeverage A-List Yacht Party

I wouldn’t be a good marketer if I didn’t plug our own Affiliate Summit event! Tickets for the MarketLeverage Yacht Party are given by invitation only.  If you’ve already received an invite, be prepared to mingle with the best and the brightest in the industry. If you would like to join us on the yacht, you can register to win one of three pairs of tickets here: (http://marketleverage.com/YachtPartySweepstakes/). The party begins at 5:45pm with VIP limousine transportation from the Hilton NYC to the 97-foot yacht, Valiant, and returns you to the Hilton just in time for the Affiliate Summit TweetUp.

- Affiliate Summit TweetUp

If you’re a social networking fan, user, expert, or newbie, this is a great place to meet your fellow tweeps in person. Besides being the hosted event of the day, the TweetUp is a low-key alternative to the typical nightclub networking events.

- Ask the Experts

The largest gathering of industry experts who will answer your questions for free assembles towards the end of the first day of Affiliate Summit. This may very well be the only time you can ask for free feedback and advice about your landing pages, marketing strategies, and Google rules to name a few, so use your time wisely!

- Dot Com Pizza Party

Join John Chow and MLDina (that’s me!) for an official ‘Dot Com Pho’ Pizza edition from 6-8pm at Famous Original Ray’s on Broadway, just a few blocks from the show site. The pizza is free, the beer’s on you, and don’t be surprised if you end up in a pizza eating competition against John Chow. Hey – it’s great linkbait!

- Affiliate Summit Karaoke

Brett Petersel and Michael Gruen from TechKaraoke are setting up shop at the Sutton Complex to give you your 15 minutes of fame, and your friends some great blackmail footage. If you can sing well, or even if you can’t, stop by for a memorable social networking experience.

- The Blogger Room

Another limited access area is the Blogger Room. If you want to play Wii with Zac Johnson, pose for pictures with ShoeMoney, or steal swag with John Chow, a press pass is a great start. The Blogger Room is the perfect spot to catch up on some emails, grab exclusive interviews, and organize your agenda and session notes.

- GeekCast.fm Live and the Affiliate Triathlon

If you have a late flight or are sticking around for a long weekend, you don’t want to miss the live GeekCast.fm broadcast and the Affiliate Triathlon. Several GeekCast regulars, including Shawn Collins, Lisa Picarille, and Jim Kukral host an open discussion about the industry, and this is one of the few opportunities to sit in on a live broadcast.

The Affiliate Triathlon is a fun competition of unusual skills tests (last year’s event included a tricycle course) for talented athletes and less-active affiliates alike. Proceeds from this event go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC, and the grand prize winner takes home a 10×10 exhibit booth at ASW 2010 in Las Vegas. If you don’t plan on exhibiting, you can sell the booth space to the highest bidder.

This is just a sample of the dozens of great events where you can meet others in the industry and develop some solid business connections. Affiliate Summit is sold out, so you know the event is going to be huge! If you’re unable to attend this year’s show, then stay in the loop by reading the various blogs and joining the social networks mentioned above to get an idea of the topics discussed and the opportunities that are available to you and to your online business by attending Affiliate Summit conferences. Hope to see you at ASE, and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions!

**If you’d like to meet the MarketLeverage team in person, stop by Meet Market table #79 or booth #1306 at the exhibit hall. We’ll be giving away a VIP trip for 2 to Orlando!
